New features & enhancements in 3.4.3

Alert Console

  • You can now lock, and unlock, columns in the column menus within an alert list. Locking refers to forcing the locked columns to stay visible at the far left hand side of an alert list.

Views menu

  • A Restore Default Colours button, now exists in The Change Severity Colours window that allows you to return the system to the colors that adhere to the RFC 150 network management standard alert colors.

Alerts menu

  • An option, Search Description now exists in the Alerts menu that allows you to undertake an internet search on specific alerts. The results are displayed in a separate window for diagnostic purposes.
  • The View Description now provides the alert description details in a separate window.

Filters menu and Alert Console toolbar

  • All Filters View now displays in a pie or histogram (bar chart) format, in a separate window, the actual count values given in exponential notation, categorized by severity for All Alerts, and Recent alerts, and any filters you have created.
  • You can now enhance a graph with the Popout Graph tool.
  • The All Filters View now contains freeze and refresh functionality.

Process management GUI

Front end

  • Within the Process Management table, you can now view the status of omosd and yarpd.

Back end

  • Portability improvements.
  • Enhanced logging, version flags and comments.

System settings GUI

  • A Test Mail Settings button now exists in the System settings GUI. Clicking on the button opens a Test Mail Settings window asking you to enter a valid destination mail address so as to test that the email server is running on the RiverMuse host machine and that the configured Mail (SMTP) settings are correct. If you do not receive a 'Mail sent successfully' message, you should check the Mail (SMTP) Settings and confirm that an email server is running.

Alert rules GUI

  • You can now clone, with the exception of the alert rule name, an existing rule to form a new rule; however, you should never have two rules with the same filter because only the one with the "highest" priority will run.
  • On opening the Alert Rule Editor, the following default values exist to assist you in building an alert rule:
    Description: $alert_msg
    Agent: syslog
    Event Agent: $agent_name
    Agent Entity: $agent_host
  • The Alert Rules GUI now contains a Help icon.

Logout

  • When logging out, an Info window now opens informing you that you have successfully logged out.
