Red Hat 5\CentOS 5 prebuilt install Core

Currently you can only install RiverMuse via the command line on Red Hat CentOS.

Retrieving the .repo file

  1. Log onto your system as a regular user.
  2. Open a terminal window.
  3. Retrieve the RiverMuse repository file by clicking on Downloads in http://www.rivermuse.org.

Reviewing the .repo file

The .repo should be formatted as follows:

The above extract shows:

  • Lines 1 - 6 pointing to the repository that contains the RiverMuse software.
  • Lines 7 - 12 pointing to the repository that contains dependencies that may not be part of the operating system.

EPEL

Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) is a repository of add on packages for RHEL. For further information please refer to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

  1. Install the EPEL tools repository by typing:

Installing RiverMuse via the command line

  1. Login as the root user.
  2. Copy the .repo file into your yum.repos.d directory.
  3. Ensure you have the most up-to-date data in YUM by typing:
  4. You are now ready to install RiverMuse by typing:
  5. Before RiverMuse is installed, you will be asked if the total download size is ok.
    1. Type y or yes (and press <enter>) to agree to the download size.
    2. If you do not agree to the download size, the installation will abort at this stage.
  6. After the RiverMuse installation is completed, open a web browser and type in the following address:
  7. Depending on your web browser configuration, turn pop ups on.
  8. You will be shown a RiverMuse license.
    1. Use the scroll bar to read the license.
  9. After reading the license you must decide whether you agree to the terms of the license.
    1. Tick the check box, and click on Accept to agree to the license.
    2. If you do not agree to the terms of the license, click on Decline and you will be directed to http://www.rivermuse.org.
  10. You now must login to the desktop. Once logged in, RiverMuse recommends you open the User Management GUI and change the system password.
    1. From the desktop, select Start, and click on Login.
    2. In the Login window, type:
      Username: system
      Password: rivermuse
